Dear reader,
Welcome to Great8newspapers.com!
What you will see on our Web site is the combined coverage of our eight weekly newspapers — a total circulation of 112,000 — that blanket metro municipalities north and west of Denver.
The Golden Transcript, the state’s second oldest paper, will celebrate its 150th birthday 2016 and continues to focus local news in this storied old West town that today clearly has a stake in new energy. Our other Jefferson County papers include the Arvada Press, Lakewood Sentinel, Wheat Ridge Transcript and Westsider. The Westminster Window, which is split by Jefferson and Adams counties, covers Westminster and Federal Heights. The Northglenn-Thornton Sentinel and Frontier cover Northglenn and Thornton and growing neighboring areas of Adams County.
All of our papers stand as longstanding leaders in coverage of city, state and county government, elections, general politics, commentary, education, prep sports, business, health and safety, and general community news. And we take pride in our special sections that cover a wide variety of subjects and often team with the business community to feature advertising in tandem with the topics.
We strive to connect, enlighten, entertain and inform. We publish news briefs and obituaries for no charge and encourage readers to send all calendar items and news tips to us. Bottom line, we think local when we think content.
Through the years, our peers have recognized us with numerous awards from the Colorado Press Association, Suburban Newspaper Association and National Newspaper Association. The awards range from team awards in General Excellence to individual awards that highlight the reporting, writing, photography, design and production skills of many talented staffers. And just as importantly, we have proudly accepted recognition from local organizations for partnering in efforts to the betterment of the region as a whole.
As the state’s largest privately owned weekly newspaper group, we are committed to local coverage with the vision that the each weekly paper provide a reflection of the community it serves. Please enjoy our coverage and know that your insights and comments are always welcome.
Sincerely,
