After the family’s arrival in Denver, Becky enrolled in business school, and during World War II, worked as a secretary at Lowry Air Force Base.

Becky met her husband, Wayne, in 1946 and were married in Denver on Aug. 8, 1947.

Later that year, Wayne and Becky relocated to Minneapolis so that Wayne could study baking.

In 1949, the family returned to Denver where Wayne opened Fender’s Bakery on 44th and Zuni. In 1953, Wayne opened a second bakery in Golden on Washington Street between Foss Drugs and Jack’s Pharmacy.

In 1954, he gave up the Denver bakery and moved the family to Golden. Becky worked many long hours in the bakery assisting her husband. Soon after moving to Golden, Becky joined and became a lifelong member of the Golden Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher.

After selling the bakery, Becky found employment as a sales associate of better dresses at the May D&F; in the Westland Shopping Center.

Becky retired from May D&F; in 1984, whereupon she and Wayne went into the business of grandparenting.

Becky had a great and sometimes wicked sense of humor, loved to laugh and have a good time. She was meticulous in appearance and would tell you that putting together and accessorizing her wardrobe were a hobby as well as a passion.

Becky would also tell you that her greatest achievements were her children and her grandchildren as well as her 63-year marriage to Wayne.
